What’s up?! It’s been a few months. We’re around… I’m around… But, I’m also chillin’ with ’some’ of the online stuff for a bit. Any other Getsch folks want to step up with an update?
The last day of July says hi.
Frequency is not abundant in describing updates to this blog. While not making promises, I suspect that will not stay so, forever. How’s that for an update? :P
For now, HAPPY SPRING, 2009!
It’s another year, another batch of gifts, another dinner, another time off from work request, another hug, another day of dealing with whatever life has brought your way. That’s not always great. That’s not always fun. It’s not always cheery for you. Whatever your story, and everyone has a story… Merry Christmas to you!
It’s been a while since posting anything new here, too long! As I have a week off from work in the coming days, I will try to do some catching up. There are new additions to the family, several ideas of things to share and obviously room for saying more than, “Stay tuned!” So, “Stay tuned for more!”
With all of the warm intentions of updating this blog more frequently, I relied on the full potential of “intention” and all the full reality of… “OOPS!” By that I mean that I have not updated this site/blog nearly as much as I could or as much as I’d like to.
Right now I’m at my friend’s apartment on Mercer Island, in Washington state. He’s packing for the trip tomorrow when we move his stuff to CA. It’ll be a fun road trip and a good time in a little bit warmer and less rainy area. I’m realizing how blessed I am to have good friends in multiple states. Speaking of multiple states, we had a number of events happen in our family this year that made it be really special.
Both of the TGetsch girls got married. Naomi in June and Becky in August. Naomi lives in Stillwater, MN. Becky lives in Manitou Springs, CO. All of the TGetsch boys had big life changes. Terry (the youngest) graduated from Army Ranger School in Fort Benning, GA. Tim left Microsoft in Redmond, WA, after 7 years, to start working more on CheckOutMyCards.com, but actually ended up geting a new job with another software company. (I’m not saying “another” because I mean Google or anything like that. I just don’t remember the name of the company that’s in downtown Seattle, a few blocks from where I work.) And, I started a new job in March… working in downtown Seattle, as I just mentioned.
So, the folks are empty-nesters. They call and email a bit more often, but it’s fun and somtimes just plain old cute when Mom calls and leaves a message saying, “Oh, I meant to call Becky but got your number instead.”
I’m still living in Bellevue, WA. I’ve been in the same apartment for a little over 4 years. It’s decent and they haven’t raised rent, and the rent is less than what I’d pay in interest on a loan for a house or condo. So, I’m just chillin’ for a bit. I would like to get my own condo or something of the sort. But, right now I’m pretty much content.
I like being content and I realize it’s rare. Hey, that’s life. A lot of life has changed over the past few years. Hey, that’s life.
Well, I’m rambling here, but that’s ok. I’m just doing a brief update of my family. For now, that’s enough to get you fairly current. If you want more info, you’re welcome to leave a comment here or contact me otherwise.
Happy Holidays for 2007!
~Toby Getsch
Stay tuned…
I posted this on Tweblog.com, but thought about it more an realized this really does belong here on Getsch.com. So, I’m posting here too…
Interestingly enough, my past few days have been cold, and have reminded me of some chilly times back in MN. Yet, I’m in Washington State, the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Why, was I cold. Because I’ve been without power for 5 days now, and the expected delivery is another 4 or 5 more. C-c-c-c-old!
Seeing one’s breath is nothing new for me. But putting on a headlamp to go pee at 4 AM and seeing my breath the whole way, and needing to drop a deuce, but willing to hold it because that lid is dern chilly… is cold. It’s been about 40 to 45 degrees, inside my apartment. To regain reality and mental opaqueness, I’m now domesticating myself at a friends flat, and have brought my PC here to catch up on lost time – - as if lost time is something that can be caught up – it’s just gone, ba-bye.
So, I got an email from my uncle David Getsch, that came in some time over the past few days. It was forwarded to him from his bro-in-law Paul Hanson. And, below – - Dar she blows!

UPDATE: Fortunately, the power came back on the next day, rather than a few more days they were predicting.
I accidentally had it set so that registration was required to leave a comment. That is corrected now, so anyone can chime in.
Please let me know if you have something you’d like posted here, or if you have other ideas for this site. You can leave a comment here or reach me directly.
UPDATED: 2009-08-23
For now, this is a blog. It’s a site where postings are made and show up in reverse chronological order, so it’s easy for people to track. It also has RSS so that anyone can follow along, without having to go back to the actual web site every time they want to see if there is an update.
Right now, I am the only author. However, if there are any other Getsch family members or extended family members that would like to get involved, feel free to comment. I’ll help you get setup with a simple and quick account, and then you can post and comment here too.
I’m going to keep this fairly basic. I’m assuming that saying “blog” and “RSS” already has been more than enough info for a lot of the people reading.
No worries… Soon enough there will be more content to show and more things to discuss, and more people will want to be involved in the conversation.
I’ve been maintaining my personal blog at tweblog.com for a few years. All of my personal, web, shenanigans can be found at Getsch.net and that site has various other links for me… The hope is that this .com site can eventually be more for family things, but I’m wondering if that will ever happen and if anyone ever reads this far…
